·         PNG’s Women’s National Football Soccer team, known as the “Lakatois” (the Motuan’s sailing vessel) can be visioned as the “Quiet Sleeping Giants” in the upcoming Intercontinental Playoffs. On the 14th July, the Lakatois kicked off their first match defeating Vanuatu 3 goals to 1 in front of 865 spectators. The 2nd day match PNG Lakatois defeated Tahiti 2 goals to 1. With the 2 wins the PNG Lakatois managed to get into the Quarter-Finals defeating Tonga 6 goals to 5, which then led them into the semi-finals defeating Samoa 3 goals to 0. 🎉🎉🎉

On the 30th of July, PNG Lakatois land themselves in the finals against Fiji, to determine who will be crowned champions of Oceania for the first time ever. Both teams were determined for the crowning, however the PNG Lakatois defeated the Digicel Fiji Kulas, 2 goals to 1, in the finals, sending Fijian supporters home with aching hearts in the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
