NRL round 25 review - Dragons vs Broncos

The Brisbane Broncos season is over. The Broncos dominated territory throughout the clash, but copped two sin-bins, were poor in defense and even worse with the ball in hand. The Dragons scored first and never trailed in a 22-12 win as Ben hunt continued his dally M bid with a delightful performance, with two try assists, a 40 to 20, and 560 kicking meters. The standout might have been his 40-20 to relieve the pressure late in the first half. Having been under the pump and stuck in their own half for a long period, Hunt’s brilliant kick resulted in a try on the following set.

Cobbo Withdraws from Round 24 - Broncos vs Eels

Selwyn Cobbo has withdrawn from playing in the Brisbane Broncos battle against the Paramata Eels on Thursday ( 25 Aug ) due to physical exhaustion on the day before the match against the Eels. Cobbo’s state of exhaustion has spotlighted the most subtle and significant challenge of Kevin Walters’ NRL coaching career.

Pressed on whether Cobbo was facing disciplinary issues rather than him simply choosing to withdraw from the match, Walters was persuaded that it was a case of burnout. Cobbo withdrew himself from the match after feeling like he wouldn’t be capable of performing to the standard required. Returning from a sickening concussion injury, endured during the series dealing game III in State of Origin, Cobbo has taken time to find his feet again.
